ARC Points Clarification

To all ARC competitors,

CACMS would just like to clarify on the format of scoring points in the ARC for 2017.

This was discussed in the CACMS meeting held in Addis Ababa and the following is from the minutes of the meeting:g

 

5.3 REMOVAL OF REGISTRATION FEES FOR THE COMPETITORS IN THE FIA AFRICAN RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP 

Three proposals from ARC organiser countries on the removal of the registration fee for the competitors in the Championship. It was PROPOSED, AGREED and VOTED that registration feesfor competitors be removed for 2017 ARC Championship. The 2017 ARC regulations will be amended accordingly and the request to be made to the FIA Rally Commission for approval. 


5.4 POINT SYSTEM 

It was PROPOSED AND AGREED that the FIA’s current point system of 25,18,15,12,10,8,6,4,2,1 should be retained and that Non-homologated cars do not score in the ARC Championship so points are awarded only to those eligible cars in the ARC. The one point given to any finisher after 10th place was not agreed for the ARC scoring list and tables will become very long. 

Also it was noted that as all competitors will now score ARC points this way the points will be awarded to the actual position of the competitors in ARC eligible cars and not to only registered drivers


CACMS had said they will propose to the FIA Rally Commission via Africa’s member Mr. Muna Singh.

 

The above was approved by the FIA and so competitors wanting to participate in the ARC do not pay any fee, however, they do register.

On the scoring of points, the difference from last year is that the registered drivers will only score points based on the position that they finish amongst all FIA eligible cars (homologated cars or cars allowed in the ARC)

So if there are ten eligible cars that finished a rally on the ARC in the overall positions as follows 1, 2 ,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10  and the only registered driver finished 6th amongst them, he scores sixth place points for that event unlike last year where he would have scored 1st place points.
